Louisiana Family Voices is a research study focused on understanding the experiences of families and caregivers impacted by Louisiana’s Juvenile Justice System.
Families often carry the emotional, financial, and practical burden when a young person becomes involved in the juvenile justice system. Yet their voices are not always included in conversations about reform, services, or support. This study is designed to listen directly to family members and caregivers so their experiences can help inform meaningful change.
Why This Study Matters
Families and caregivers play a critical role in the lives of young people. When systems are difficult to navigate, families may face barriers such as limited communications, transportation challenges, confusing procedures, emotional stress, and a lack of support. This study seeks to better understand those experiences by asking families to share:
What challenges did they face
What helped them stay involved
What barriers made engagement difficult
What support families need
What changes could improve the system for families and youth
We are inviting family members and caregivers, age 18 or older, of young people impacted by Louisiana’s Juvenile Justice System to participate in the study.
This may include parents, grandparents, guardians, relatives, or other caregivers who have supported a young person involved in the system.
Participation includes one confidential interview lasting approximately 60 to 90 minutes.
Interviews may be completed:
In person
Virtually
Participation is completely voluntary. Participants may choose not to answer any question and may stop the interview at any time.
Your privacy matters. Information shared during the study will be kept confidential. Names and identifying details will not be used in reports or study findings.
